Top 5 Wedding Planners

Today I’m giving you the top 5 wedding planners that you should be following if you are newly engaged, in the industry, or just want design inspiration for big over-the-top weddings!

Coming in at my #1, most insane wedding designers is @Lebaneseweddings on Instagram! This account shows every step along the way, literally. You’ll see the venues being built from scratch for each wedding and the entire process of what that looks like all the way to the end of the set-up. It’s insane! If that isn’t crazy enough, wait until you see the gowns. These brides wear the most stunning ball gowns. Typically custom made and with a longggg train. They really are a work of art!

Another cool thing about @Lebaneseweddings is the over-the-top designs. These weddings don’t shy away from impressing their guests and make sure to utilize every space of the venues to have the most beautiful design you can imagine. One of the things I’m inspired by the most from this wedding planner is the incorporation of tech. You’ll see custom graphic designs displayed all throughout the venue space, giving the most unique and beautiful wow factor for all the guests. Of course, there is food and lots of it! They utilize this piece and create a whole design in this area too. Some weddings have multiple medium size wedding cakes which can have the best design but also so much yummy cake for all the guests. The last thing that I love so much and have to mention about @lebaneseweddings is the grand entrances. At any wedding, the entrance is a big deal but these brides utilize tech to give the most out-of-this-world backdrops, while they enter the space, typically on a large stage so that all their guests can see them in that gorgeous custom gown.

The second account you need to follow is @mindyweiss. Mindy is the “Goat” celebrity wedding/party planner. You may know some of her work and did not even know it was hers! Mindy is the master behind all of the Kardashian parties, Ellen Degeneres’s wedding, and Justin and Hailey Bieber’s wedding! Her Instagram gives you all the behind-the-scenes of these celebrity events/weddings and it’s honestly just amazing. From her Instagram, you’ll also see that her design is out of this world. You probably already know this designer from seeing the events she has done for the Kardashian family, but I highly encourage you to give her Instagram a look if you’re wanting any type of design inspiration. Another thing Mindy is good at is the intimate details. She knows how to turn any occasion into an intimate, extraordinary event. All in all, Mindy is amazing! She is honestly goals and I know that anyone in the industry can easily agree with me on this!
Account #3 that you need to follow is Revelry Event Design. Revelry Event Design is an LA-based rental and design company. They are most known for the Academy Awards and Grammys that they design. How cool is that?! Their parties are also a super huge hit and known for having the most insane furniture with custom pieces, beautiful lighting, and outstanding draping! Revelry Event Design creates the most beautiful dance floors and unique interactive displays. You can find a lot of inspiration for wow-factor pieces from them. Their Instagram highlights have all the best behind-the-scene that show you how these over-the-top pieces come together. You have to check it out!

The fourth account to follow is @cecinewyork. This account is invitation design heaven You won’t believe what kind of custom work that owner, Ceci Johnson, creates. She loves to bring in so many fun colors and unique twists to each piece of her work. You most definitely need to visit her page before ordering invitations or any paper products!

Coming in at #5 of the top five Instagrams you need to follow when you get engaged is @partyslate. PartySlate is a wedding and events blog that vendors can use for inspiration. The coolest thing about them is that you can search by theme, venue, and city. This helps someone who is wanting to have a destination wedding know what vendors are in the area and what work they have done. PartySlate is a huge platform for upscale weddings and events to be featured on to give inspiration all over the world! You’ve got to check them out.

Bonus feature- ME! You need to follow my Instagram @asyouwish_dfw! Our Instagram is designed to show the real-life work that we’ve created and give inspiration to not only our future brides, but ALL Bride Babes! I can’t wait for you to see my work!!

How to Be Extra at Your Wedding

Hey Babes!!
Today I’m giving you the top 5 ways to be ‘extra’ at your wedding, so listen up! I’ve got so many fun ideas for your wedding that will wow your guests and make your special day one to remember forever!

#1 CONFETTI DROP: Let’s just fast-forward to the reception, you need a confetti drop. This moment is always so unexpected that your guests are for sure going to think you’re over the top! But not only that, it makes the best pictures!

#2 WARDROBE SWITCH: Another way to wow your guests is an outfit change. This doesn’t have to be just for the bride- it could be for anyone in your wedding party! Why not slip into another outfit that is a little bit more comfortable and a completely new look? Celebrate your wedding in style and in a second outfit.👰💃

#3 FIREWORKS: The third wow factor is a huge trend right now that I hope never goes out of style: fireworks.🎆 You can wow guests by bringing in big sparklers that shoot up from the ground and create the most insane pictures and are just a nice touch to being ‘that’ bride. I’m also all for bringing in real Fourth of July-styled fireworks as well! One of my brides in the past had a firework show right before her and the groom went off in a helicopter for the get-away ride. It was insane!

#4 CEILING DECOR: When was the last time you went to a wedding and saw hanging decor from the ceiling and was not impressed?? NEVER! Hanging pieces, whether they are florals, crystals, lights…whatever you choose, is always a staple point to the design and your guests will forever be impressed!✨

#5 EPIC ENTRANCE: The fifth and final piece of advice for being extra that I would give you, is your entrance, make it big!🎉 This can also be a huge factor to something that makes your guests never stop talking about your wedding. Get creative! Think outside of the box rather than any normal bridal party entrance. And again for your exit, get some fireworks 😉

BONUS!🌟  Of course, I can’t leave you hanging without a bonus! Say it with me. Same. Day. Edit. This is a rare gem that not everyone knows about but needs to! Same Day Edit is where your videographer has someone on their team solely dedicated to editing the raw footage from throughout the day into a short film that is aired for all the guests to see before the night is over.🎥 This is a special moment that allows your guests to almost relive the day with you one last time and see what kind of fun footage the videographer captured. Some of my brides in the past have done this and I can’t tell you enough, this was truly an amazing moment!

I hope you enjoyed these 5 ways to “WOW” your guests and make your wedding the most amazing experience!

Let’s Party – Wedding After-Party Edition

Hi Babes!

So, you may have heard recently many bride babes are throwing after-parties after their weddings! It’s one of the hottest wedding trends right now for all my brides and grooms that want to continue the party after the reception is over. This event is typically held by the hosts of the wedding and let me tell you- they are always SO. MUCH. FUN!

There are a few things to think through when deciding to plan an after-party. I’ve got the where, when, how, who and what right here for you on the blog today!

WHERE

Where do people have the after parties? If your wedding reception is in a hotel ballroom, why not see if the smaller space down the hall or another room in the hotel is available for use? Some couples have theirs at restaurants or bars. When it comes to spaces like this, you want to be mindful of the noise. You and your wedding planner can research your wedding city and find the perfect gathering place!

WHEN

When do after-parties occur? This event is typically immediately after the reception and lasts for roughly 2 hours. The after-party is something that you want to end on a high! Don’t try to outshine your reception, stay with minimal design and ride out the night. This is meant to be just that little bit of extra party time for you and your guests!

HOW

How do you invite? There are a couple of different ways you can go about this. You can have an invitation card that has all the information, location, time, etc. Same with an Evite! Word of mouth always works too. Some brides have the band announce it at the end of the night.

Another HOW – how can you save money while hosting? Most importantly, you want to decide what is important to you. If you decide to save money at the bar, maybe only serve beer and wine. This is typically the time your guests are starting to slow down on drinks so you don’t necessarily need to serve liquor and champagne. You also don’t need decor here. This is the last event of the night, people aren’t coming for the decor, they’re coming to spend a couple more hours with you, your new hubby, and the rest of your guests.

WHO

Who is on the list of people to invite? Traditionally and for etiquette, all guests are invited. If you’re on a budget and only want to invite a small group of friends, make sure to invite accordingly so that the word doesn’t get out and you have unexpected guests or guests with major FOMO!

WHAT

What are some fun things to have? An outfit change, duh! I always support an outfit change for both the bride and groom! Maybe a short dress or a pantsuit. Something a little more comfortable and fun! Don’t forget party props. LED foam sticks and glow sticks always make a great party prop!

The key to the perfect after-party is to not sweat the details too much! Just plan something that will be the perfect end to your perfect wedding day. For more tips and tricks, join the Bride Babe Club, where you can access free content and exclusive videos to help you plan your entire big day!

Products Brides Must Have on Their Wedding Day

Hey Babes!

As a wedding planner, I am always trying to make your lives easier.💯 If you’re a bride or groom going through this wedding planning journey, I’ve got your back today! I will tell you all about the products that you need to buy for your wedding. These products are THE BOMB and I promise, they’ll make your life easier. As an Amazon affiliate, I’ve created categories within my Amazon Page so you can breeze through those links, and you can purchase anything you might need for your wedding. This makes it simple and easy to get anything that you may need, that you may not even know that you need, or may have forgotten – and order it off of Amazon. So easy right?! Let’s get started.

Okay, so the first category inside my Amazon affiliate links is called Welcome Bag Supplies. If you’re not familiar with Welcome Bags, they are a bag or a box that you would put in the hotel room of a guest that’s coming in from out of town. Usually, this has a couple of different goodies in it like some drinks, some snacks, and an itinerary that lets your guest know where to be when. So, in order to make your life a little easier as you plan your wedding, I’ve created a category for this. 💁🏼‍♀️ It has things like bags, tissue paper, water bottles, granola bars and hangover kits. Anything you would want to put inside those welcome gifts for your guest is in this category to make it so easy for you to click through and purchase what you want and then all you have to do is stuff the bags! Check it out here!

The next category that you definitely need to check out is Wedding Day Necessities. In this category, you’re going to find things like cake cutter and servers, toasting flutes 🥂, or a card box- Things that you’re going to need to have physically there and present on your wedding day. You know those fun foam LED sticks that you see in everybody’s videos? I have those linked here! We also have flip flops that your guests can change into after they’re dancing on the dance floor all night and they don’t want to be in their heels. So many fun things! Check it out here.

Okay, the third category that I’m going to talk to you about today is the Wedding Planner Emergency Kit category. If you’re a bride this applies to you, but if you’re a wedding planner this applies to you as well. I have curated every single thing that’s in my emergency kit including the kit itself in this category in my Amazon links. So, literally, all you have to do is purchase everything in that category, and you have an emergency kit that’s going to get you through your wedding weekend without a hitch! 🙏 To give you an idea, we’re talking things like Tide to go pens, safety pins, bandages, scissors, and ribbon. Take it from a wedding planner, you can never be too prepared! Check out this list here.

The fourth category is actually a Wedding Covid Safety Kit. 😷 Now hopefully this won’t be a thing for much longer. Since we are a year and a half into this thing, this is a category where you can find things for your wedding like masks, hand sanitizer, and gloves. Things like this will help keep you and your guest safe during the wedding. Check it out here!

The fifth category and one that I’m really excited about, and I think you will be too is the Bridesmaid Boxes category. Now I’ve literally curated such a cute Bridesmaid box in this Amazon category. It’s going to have the actual box, the filler, the champagne glass, and the will you be my bridesmaid card. So many cute little things and all you have to do is purchase the items in that category. Then it comes to you, and all you have to do is assemble. You don’t have to actually curate all the things to go in the bridesmaids’ boxes. If you’re stuck and don’t have an idea or don’t know what to do to ask your bridesmaids if they’ll be your bridesmaid 👯‍♀️, this is a great option. So I hope you’ll check it out here!

All in all, if you’re already planning on buying these things for your wedding, I want to make it easy and curated for you so you have one place to go to look for all your wedding day necessities.

Happy shopping! 🛍 Until Next Time –

Real Horror Stories as a Wedding Planner

BABES. In my over 13 years of planning luxury weddings and celebrity parties, I have seen SOME STUFF. Of course, wedding planning can be glamorous, fun, classy, and elegant but BELIEVE ME, it’s not always rainbows and butterflies. 🌈🦋

I get asked time and time again- “What’s the CRAZIEST thing that’s ever happened at one of your weddings?”

Well, today, I’m spilling the tea! I’m going to share with you my never-before-told wedding planning horror stories! Don’t worry- names and details like locations, etc. have been changed to protect the innocent, but these are TRUE STORIES of what has happened over the years!😱

As a wedding planner, even if things are BURNING DOWN TO THE GROUND behind the scenes, it is my job that the bride and groom and all the guests at the event NEVER EVEN KNOW if something goes wrong. It’s my job to handle all of those issues so that my clients and their guests have the most amazing experiences at their events! 💕

So, even if I were able to plan everything PERFECTLY, you can’t control everything- that’s just LIFE! Sometimes, things just go wrong. People make mistakes, mother nature happens! But, as a wedding planner, it’s my job to keep a smile on my face, handle problems as they come, and do my best to problem-solve on the fly!💁🏼‍♀️

So, let’s get right into sharing the biggest horror stories of my career. I’m not talking just slight mishaps, and we’ve had a fair share of these! A centerpiece catching on fire? Just throw some water on it and replace it! Vendor late to install? Switch things around to keep the timeline on track! Bus for bridal party no-show? We just cram the entire party into my SUV and book it to the ceremony! These are all mishaps, and if that’s the worst that happens on your wedding day, you’re GOLDEN! If you have a wedding planner that knows what they’re doing, they’ll know how to take those mishaps on and problem solve on-site!

The stories that I’m sharing with you today are not these little mishaps. These are INTENSE.

HORROR STORY #1

This story is one of the craziest things that has ever happened in my career! We were doing a wedding in a small town. When you’re doing a wedding that’s not in your city (where my Dallas babes at?!) it’s considered a destination wedding. So, this small town was our destination! All of the vendors knew each other in this small town, where everybody knows everybody. The wedding was an amazing, over-the-top event- the client had a great budget and we spent A LOT of money on each of the vendors. We researched the vendors and felt like we did our due diligence on making sure they were the best fit!

Fast forward to the end of the night. This BEAUTIFUL wedding has occurred and we’re sending off the bride and groom. Everything has gone perfectly, and as the wedding planner, I am on cloud nine. I’m watching the bride and groom drive off into the distance. I’m picking up all of the exit items off of the ground and making sure the space is clean, and then I walk back to the venue to get all of my items and help facilitate clean-up.

As I’m approaching the reception space, I hear a very loud yell. “That’s right, and you better not get back up!!” and I had a moment of “what did I just hear??” I walk in to see BLOOD, EVERYWHERE! All over the reception floor!! I’m trying to figure out what has happened here. I look over and see the photographer and videographer, and then I see the florist team, and one of the men from the florist clean-up crew is just laying on the ground covered in blood.

It turns out that because we were in such a small town, the photographer and videographer happen to be related to each other and went to high school with the florist team! Apparently, they had high school beef that came to in to play when the videographer and photographer walked back into the room. One party said something to the other and a BRAWL broke out in the reception space. They have a knockdown, drag-out fight in this small space and blood is everywhere. All I could think of is THANK God this didn’t happen when the clients or guests were there!! Immediately I wonder what to do- should I call the police? Thankfully, someone had already called and I let them handle the situation, but this was one of the craziest things that ever happened. The ambulance came, the cops were involved, and it was just a crazy ending to the night.

The BEST part of the whole story is… fast-forward to a week after the wedding. The photographer has the audacity to reach out to me and see if I will recommend him for any of my events in Dallas! Um no, not after you started a HUGE FIGHT at the end of that event! Needless to say, I did NOT recommend him for my Dallas brides. Even though the pictures, video, and flowers all came out amazing, the whole bloody fight thing was COMPLETELY unnecessary and taught me a lesson about vetting vendors.

HORROR STORY #2

We were doing another destination wedding (do you see a pattern??😉) and we were nearby a body of water. We had the entire event outside- the ceremony and reception, and everything was displayed outside. We had guest tables, dance floor, band stage, and everything else was outside! I had not done an event at this venue before, so I had reached out to their director and asked if there were any issues to be aware of or things they typically do. I was a little nervous about the cake being outside in the heat, etc, and just wondering what issues they had in the past so we would know how to handle it. She reassured me everything was fine and that they put the cake outside every single weekend and not to worry.

I should have listened to my GUT! The cake was placed inside a gazebo, and we were able to put some netting around the gazebo and had a fan to have somewhat of a climate-controlled situation. Well, we get to the reception after a perfect ceremony and cocktail hour. The photographers and videographers are coming and getting detailed shots of all the things in the reception, and the sun is beginning to set and it’s starting to get dark.

As the sweet videographer walks up to the gazebo where the cake is and flings open the wedding. I see this out of the corner of my eye and get a little stressed out. So I start walking over there, only to see him reach for his light. I have a minor panic attack inside because I’m thinking if ANYBODY knows anything about bugs in the dark, if you shine a light, bugs gravitate to the light! AND, to make matters worse, this sweet, sweet bride picked honey cake!!🍯 Her cake icing was HONEY FLAVOR!!

SO, as I’m seeing the videographer reaching for his light, I’m still far away. You know like when you’re in a dream and you are running slow motion and shouting nooooooooooo?? That was ME! I could not get to him fast enough before he put a bright spotlight on that cake. And my worst nightmare came true- ALL OF THE BUGS came and gravitated to the light and GOT STUCK ALL OVER THE CAKE!!!😱🤮

Guys, I’m not kidding. It looks like someone just scooped up a bunch of dead bugs and used them as a garnish on the cake. Totally disgusting, amiright?!! AND, it was about to be time to cut the cake!! I went into wedding planner to the rescue mode! I knew a song that the Bride and Groom loved and they had a specific dance to. So, I let the band know not to announce the cake cutting right now, but play this specific song. The band does, and everyone gets on the dance floor to do this choreographed dance that they love, and I knew they were preoccupied. The rest of my team got the cake and walked with the cake behind us as the pastry chef took the cake back to the kitchen, hiding the fact that we were transporting the cake back inside. 🎂

Once inside, we scooped ALLLLLLLLL of that icing off the cake. We made sure there was not a bug in sight and there was NO piece of icing left on the cake. The pastry chef even cut around the cake to make sure there was no piece that had even touched icing. The pastry chef, THANK GOD, re-iced the entire cake and everything was fine!!!😝

Y’all, we were able to save the day!! For food safety purposes, we use the cake we re-iced for photos and formal cake cutting, but then actually were in a facility where they had available cake in their kitchen and we utilized that cake to pass around to guests. Whew! Crisis averted! We were able to still have our beautiful cake-cutting picture (with NO BUGS!) and all of the guests got a fresh slice that was not tainted by bug garnish!🤣

HORROR STORY #3

My third and final video for this post is one of the hardest, most devastating horror stories that has happened during one of our weddings. And, it was all due to Mother Nature, bless her heart.

We were in a remote location the day before the wedding day, setting up everything from tables to linens to hard goods. We love to be able to set up a day early – we get so much done in advance! What we didn’t know because it wasn’t on the weather radar, was that a tornado was about to rip through and literally blow the roof off of our venue! LITERALLY, it touched down on TOP OF THE VENUE and nowhere else. How does this even happen?? Then, not only was the roof ripped off of the venue, but soon after rain followed!! Of course, we’re already completely set up! The rain starts coming in through the roof and we’ve got a HUGE PROBLEM. 🌪

At this point, we are all at the rehearsal dinner. So, our team has to come back to the venue, completely salvage everything we can. Then we had to coordinate bringing in power generators, contacting every vendor to make sure they could bring extra lights since there was no power and no lighting. We did everything we could – Victoria on my team was an absolute ROCKSTAR! She was there until the early hours of the morning making sure everything would be set for the following day. She was able to re-do everything that we had done that day and manage the vendors and the changes that everyone needed to make so that the wedding could still happen! She even managed to get a tarp ON THE ROOF!! She whipped everything into shape and made sure everything was perfect. 💕

Unfortunately, because it was such a large event, news crews showed up and the bride and groom had to be told about the craziness of the evening before their wedding. Of course, we stayed in complete communication and kept them up-to-date on the situation as far as what to expect the following day. In all honesty, the only thing that showed any evidence of there having been a TORNADO THERE THE DAY BEFORE was a tarp over the ceiling!!!!! The bride and groom were SO happy. They had the best day ever, and everything turned out great!!💯

So, after reading these three stories, I can tell you one thing: you just never know when a horror story is going to happen! As a wedding planner, you have to be able to think on your feet, act quickly and trust in your team and vendors. I hope and pray NOTHING like this happens to you on your wedding day, but remember, if it does, it makes for a GREAT story!!

Until Next Time –
